Whether you select a Linux dedicated server or a Windows dedicated server, our Kernel & OS Updates managed service will constantly keep your server up-to-date to keep it secure and current. It's important to both the integrity of the network, and particularly the reliability of your managed web hosting server to always have the latest updates and patches applied to the software that you're using.
This service insures that your software is always up-to-date and secure. While we cannot protect against weak passwords or insecure scripts running on the server, it will insure that the operating system is patched to the latest released stable version of the Kernel.
Self Service Backup Space - $1/GB
Self Service Backup Space offers secure remote server backup storage services. The Host Genie provides storage space and connectivity while you are responsible for configuration, creation and transmission of backups from your server to the backup node. Because backups are so critical for any organization, The Host Genie offers a very simple, per-gigabyte stored backup pricing technique.
The Host Genie also offers RAID configurations, secondary hard drives, dedicated MSA storage space, backup node storage and replication/data synching solutions as alternatives to backup space. Automatic Backups (powered by R1 Soft) - $1.50/GB
The Host Genie offers R1 Soft solutions (with Free CDP Agent Software3) to allow for bare-metal backup restoration. Bare-metal backups enable entire server snapshots to be stored and retained.
Using R1 Soft backup solutions, individual files, databases, database tables, directories, or even past versions of files can be restored with ease. The easy access restoration system enables rapid replacement of lost or deleted files.
Security Audit - $99 - $199
A monthly security audit is included with the purchase of our Kernel & OS Updates, Server Side Virus Scanning, or Spam Filtering. The Security Audit will be conducted on request by our experienced team of administrators, and will cover the many known security exploits on your managed server. Security scan does not include scanning of applications or "pen testing" services. Scanning is limited to scans of the server itself and the ports open on it. Rootkit checks are also available on request.

Private Bandwidth Pool - $35
Combine your servers bandwidth into one large pool and share your bandwidth allocation between your servers. Private Bandwidth Pooling enables you to combine your bandwidth limitations from all your servers into one large limit. This can be useful if you have back-end servers that have bandwidth allocations but do not generate traffic. When combined with our Private Network offering, this can be an extremely cost effective service.
Server Side Virus Scanning - $5
Install and manage server side anti-virus software on your server. Includes regular fingerprint updates. Anti-virus software provided by ESET Node32 technology. ESET uses both signature-based and heuristic powered anti-virus software to scan and identify viruses and trojan horses in all their iterations. Both e-mail messages being sent and received via your server are scanned. All files added, modified, accessed or used by the operating system are also scanned.
MailFoundry Spam Filtering - $39.96 per domain per year
The Host Genie's Spam Filtering is powered by advanced Mail Foundry spam filtering appliances. We offer our default settings or custom configuration or control panel access for large number of domains being filtered. Please contact our sales department for more details.
SnapShield On-Demand Firewall Powered By SingleHop - $39.95/mo
SnapShield is SingleHop's custom-designed on-demand firewall product. It enables any SingleHop customer to be able to instantly lock down access to a specific server or a group of servers. SnapShield is powered by enterprise-grade Cisco firewall technology.
For most situations, you won't need an active, always-on firewall. If you need an always-on firewall, then consider purchasing your own dedicated hardware firewall, as it may be a better long-term option. However, for most dedicated server users a software-based firewall (such as Windows firewall or APF on Linux) is more than sufficient most-of-the-time.
